Ft. Carson Pediatrics

Getting Ready: The 1st day is mostly checking in for the morning. Be prepared to feel like you are lost your first day. You register, read some material, and get your picture ID made.  They will send you to the Main Gate for you to get a  month pass for your car (don’t forget drivers license, proof of insurance, and car registration paper).

Dress: Professional attire. It's an army base.

Directions:

Go North on I-25 towards Colorado Springs . The base is west of I-25.

Take exit #132/CO-16. Go towards Widefield/Security.

Take left onto Magrath Ave/CO-16.

Stay straight to go onto Magrath Ave.

Take left onto Francis Loop.

Take left onto Specker.

Take right onto Titus.

Evans Army Hospital, 7600 Cochrane Blvd. is on the left side.

Doctor Profile:

Dr. Choate loves to teach. He's very up-to-date. He's a civilian.

You will meet & work with the other docs too. They are military docs.

Everybody is very nice.

What to expect/do:

Attend morning report at 7:30 am .

Dr. Choate expects you to see pretty much all the patients and present them

with an A/P.

Keep a log of all the patients you see. Turn this in at the end of the month.

There are opportunities to do procedures (LP, cath UA, blood draws).

There is also an opportunity to do WCC (well child checks) with PA.

The patients & families are very compliant and respectful.

Private Practice Pediatrics  

Dr. McHardy

Getting ready: Not much to do. Simply find out what time to show up.

Dress: Professional. Tie seems optional. 

Directions:

On the north side of town

Off of I-25 at exit #101. Go west on Hwy. 50 W.

Take right at Outlook Blvd.

It's in the Centura building on the right after the restaurants.

Take elevators on the right.

Doctor Profile:

Dr. McHardy is very laid-back & soothing. He is also very knowledgeable.

You may also have an opportunity to work with Dr. Driscoll.

Everybody is nice.

What to expect/do:

The office starts kind of late and has a 2-hr lunch break.

Usually the day ends before 5pm , unless it's winter cold/flu season.

You will see pretty much all of the patients and present them with an A/P.

Dr. Khouri

Getting ready: Not much to do. Simply find out what time to show up.

Dress: Professional.

Directions: (Allow at least 1.5 hrs; Lots of traffic)

Go north on I-25 to Colorado Springs .

Take exit #149/ Woodman Rd.

Take right onto E. Woodman Rd.

Take right onto N. Union Blvd.

Take right onto Dublin Blvd.

2685 Dublin Blvd.

Doctor profile: He's fun to work with & will teach fun doctor-patient rapport.

What to expect/do: You will see all of the patients with Dr. Khouri. You perform the PE. Afterwards you discuss the pt.
